As a bassoon player in our local college band, people are often intrigued with my instrument. I am frequently asked what my instrument is called and what it sounds like. Here is a sampling of what it sounds like:
What makes a bassoon different from other woodwinds? For one thing, music is written in the bass clef because it is a lower pitched instrument.
It is also a double-reed instrument versus the more common single reed.
How bassoons and music help the mind develop outside the “Bachs.”
